How do I know if I really need therapy?

This answer is a little different for everyone. Some signs that you might need professional help could be that you start to feel the impact negatively in your life. Some of the things that could be affected is your sleep, professional life, appetite or your relationships with your friends, family or loved ones. If you feel down or hopeless, these might be signs that you could benefit from professional therapy.

Why shouldn’t I try to just work through this on my own?

It’s so easy to put things off in your life, especially those that are impacting our life negatively. The decision to get help can be extremely difficult for many people. You are NOT alone. Life is full of emotions and we often dismiss those emotions where we are feeling anxiety, emotional pain, relationship stress and financial problems. When you take responsibility for your mental health and well-being, you are taking the first and most important step in your journey to finding inner peace.

What does professional therapy provide?

Professional counseling gives you an opportunity to share, but also to gain new understanding and perspective. Life can be overwhelming at times, and having a professional provide you with a new outlook can be extremely beneficial. Your counselor will help you set goals and provide you with the tools to achieve these goals. Getting to the root of the issues that are affecting you negatively, changing the behaviors, can help you regain control of your life.

What happens in a therapy session?

This varies from person to person. The needs and goals of every person are very different and therefore everyone’s treatment is different. Each therapist will approach the session with those needs and goals in mind.

Is this covered by my insurance?

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

If you need to cancel your appointment, please contact us at least 24 hours in advance of your session. If you do not show up for your appointment, you will be charged a fee of $75.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

YES!! Your privacy is important to us, and you can trust that our sessions, as well as any of your personal information, is always held in the strictest of confidence. Additionally, anything you transmit over our website is highly secure, and stored data is HIPAA-compliant. Confidential information disclosed in private therapy sessions is legally protected. However, there are some exceptions to this, including instances of suspected child or elder abuse, or when a client presents a serious danger of violence toward himself or herself or another person.
